How do working moms do it? Our house has dishes on the counter, toys on the living room floor, unanswered phone messages, and no food in the fridge and it is only wednesday.
I picked Erik up yesterday around 4:00 and he didn't have much of an expression on his face when he first saw me. I think he was really tired. We played for a bit at home. I had him in bed by 6:45.
This morning, he cried when Jamie transferred him over to a teacher at daycare. I called later and they said he cried for an hour and then settled down, and had a nap. He isn't eating anything. Hopefully he is at least having some milk. I feel awful that he is sad. I hope he can get used to it and enjoy himself eventually. Our hearts are breaking.

awwwwwwwww. It's a transition so of course it's going to be rough at first. Hang in there and think of how much fun you will have on the weekend together! I'm sure you will cherish ever moment of it. Take care.
The above cartoon pretty much sums it up...only I would never have a clean, pressed suit to wear!
Its an extremely difficult transition that will hopefully get better for everyone. Or, you will make a big family decision.
This is how we do it (and remember, I did work full time hours for 4 months):
1) meal plan. Do it on saturday morning, starting with sunday night, and then get the groceries on Sunday. If you don't meal plan, you just graze or eat take out. Take out on Thursday is ok.
2) load dishwasher at night, run it, empty in morning. start over.
3) pick eriks outfits on sunday, and have them lined up for the week so you dont have to think about it in the mornings. I used to spend sooo much time planning M's daycare outfits. Now i hem and haw on sunday and i just grab and go.
4) daycare bag and my bag is packed at night. Ready at the door.
5) At 8 pm, all cleaning gets done ASAP. All toys and everything put in its place. Then you do NOTHING for the next hour but veg.
6) while one parent bathes E, the other parent cleans up after supper. Usually the opposite parent that cooked it!
7) nutrigrain bars. I eat them in the car, and she eats them too if we havent had time for breakfast. Before we say i am a horribly conveniencey mom, on sunday night I baked healthy super cranberry muffins and we eat those all week for breakfast or night time snack.
I hope this helps a bit. I know its a difficult week. It will get better.
Remember he won't starve himself either. They constantly offer snacks at daycare. M eats ALL DAY and then doesnt eat for me at home.
We kind of do what you suggested AMK... but number 6 is an awesome idea!!
Yes at daycare they do try to feed him a lot of food.
Thanks for the support everyone :)
I know people who can't or don't know how to leave comments are supporting me out there too!
